    Default IL-2 found with pilot

    Dear Friends,

Recently, I found this website about an IL-2 which was found in a lake in Krym with its' pilot.

Unfortunately, I could not find the original website about the discovery.
If anybody knows about this story or anybody has more photos about it, please share with us.

    Here is the link:

Incredible, I wonder how they found it? I'm sure there are thousands more lost souls out there waiting to be discovered. Thanks for the link Gabor.

    Dear Friends,

I have not left this IL-2 finding alone. I surfed on the net to seek any clue of it. Unfortunately, I did not find more photos, but some websites enclosed some details.

This plane was find near Tarkhankut Cape, Crimea. Here is some iformation:

Safari Maris | Willkommen in der Ukraine! | Tauchen in Schwarzen Meer | Reisen in der Ukraine

I made contact a diver of Safari Maris, and he said that he remembered the plane because he had seen it many times in its underwater grave. He knew that the plane was recovered, but he did not know that the pilot was buried. He sent me a pdf file which contains a little information about the Sturmovik. Here is:

    http://www.taleon.ru/EN/taleonclub_r.../122-127-0.pdf

Nowaday, the plane is exhibited in front of Baklava Harbour.

It would be great to know the pilot’s name, age and other details of him and his plane and the recovery efforts.

You have fought your fight, your have reached the end of your way, now Rest In Peace Soviet Hero!

I use Google Chrome as my web browser. It has a feature to translate the original language into English. If you look at the bottom of the referenced article, there are more listed. There was one on a recovered FW-200 Condor, among others.
