    Appologies, after seeing that photo, it does look like the same bolt. I would love to know how a Italian Bolt ended up there!

    WOW! what a trip i really enjoyed looking through the photo's. That bell you found is a Crotal Bell and probably dates from around the 18th and 19th century

    It was probably used on the farm animals so the farmer knew where they where. I expect when he moved the herd it fell off.

    Finaly the electrolyte got the bayo clean enought so i could se some numbers on it.
    One side says 43 asw (E.u.f Horster) and the other side 048 (think the first number isnt showing) and underneath the numbers is an upside down u or some type of symbol.
    And now time to try and clean the scabbard to see if its a matching one =)

    Fantastic finds and great pictures, thanks for sharing! Now that is what this forum is all about! I have to live vicariously through you lucky souls that can dig in those historical places.

    Yes we are lucky to live so close to such historical places,just to be in the same place makes the trip worthwile.

    Now I have rubbed it with protective oil, so now its ready for my collection cabinette=)
