Just got this Panzerschreck shield in from a Latvian digger. In relic condition but still solid, it is only missing the top glass hinged cover ( I guess the bottom cover was for a spare? ) and the latch is broken off ..... but for a piece of tin to have survived this well, I'm chuffed to own one. You don't see a lot and guess there is even less here in the southern hemisphere?

Question is - does anyone know what the loops were for?
I haven't seen a photo where they are in use.

    Thanks, Dan

I HAVE to bump it up again - surely someone knows what the loops were for????
There has been MUCH discussion on "schrecks" here in the Past - Ade has one and so do others.......

    Cheers, Dan

I have no idea about the loops, but it's a nice piece of kit you got there.
    I'm thinking shipping cost here

Thank-you guys, that seems a logical explanation.

Many things have brackets fitted that never actually get used and then the reasons for there existence is lost forever. ........ this may well be one of them!

I like it too. I can only think of camo foliage as well.

Could it be these loops are for some kind of carrying straps?

I cannot see that, as there are loops for the sling on the 'schreck itself.

    Cheers, Ade.
