Sometimes in the forest we found parts of guns, tanks, vehicles, planes. But it's only a small part, remains of that huge number of wrecks which were in the forests even 10 years ago. It's because local people (farmers) which live in battlefield area collect war metall for recycling. I know for sure that only in last two years about 3 T-34/76 were recycling in Narwa region. And even in
in this spring,in april there was founded two wrecks of "Flying tank" IL-2, i saw the pictures. At present moment i Know for sure that it's alredy recyclied. There is nothing more at present moment.
This started strictly after the war. Poor local people collekt firstly color metall
brass coper - shell cases, alluminium parts of planes. But till early of 50th black metall: tanks, guns, vehikles still in the forest. After, locals started cut the tanks. Usually they did it like that - put the huge number of TNT into the tank and blowed it up. Tank totally destroing, bursted at the seams. Then locals removed the metall.
Then in 60th this procces stopeed because all "easy" tanks and planes were cuted, only in bogs, lakes, rivers and in the deep forest remains some.
But in the 90th when the Soviet Union falling down and people lost their job they again started collekt the war metall. And at present moment this procces is goin on. I think after the 10 years of recycking all forest will be clean.
At that moment we sometimes found a parts, not big of course only that parts which were missed by farmers. Sometimes we can take it with us if it's not too big, but more often we drop it in the forest.
Special for Kraftfahrer Bob - Its very hard to find a parts of british vehicles in the Ostfront, also the civil cars. I never seen before.
Also hard to take this metall out of the forest becouse usually it's far from the road.
