Hello MATT, Yes the Germans used many 1000s ZB-26 LMGs.. The SS had the bulk of them.. They were produced by the Germans after 1938 and proofed WaA63.. Here is a pict of a ZB-26... The tip of the firing pin was square/oblong thus leaving a oblong firing pin print on the primer of 7.92mm empty shell cases..So if you find any shell casings sith a square/oblong firing pin hit on the primer you will know what they came from...BILLby Matt R.

there were many spent cases but usually I don't pick them up.
It makes sense, because the Prinz Eugen retreated in that areaI just found a nice picture related
