hi im no good with part numbers but i can say that it looks alot like part an ammunition shoot or guide heres a website that have something like what it might have been part of SpitfireSpares.com - warbird Relics
failing an ammunition guide then its probably from the engine area as it apears to be stainless steel

    Hmmmm.....

A quick search of google found this on the first hit !

Ryan Aeronautical - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Seems they produced trainers.

If it follows 'normal' serial number format, the long number will be the part, the short number the aircraft type.

    Hope that helps

I agree with Steve, the numbers at the front or the last,
if we use the front ..ie 52 it could be C-47,But if we use
    the last..ie 14 ,it could be P.39.
    Cheers Mike
