Some Libyan Wrecks

Hello All,

Was in SE Libya a few years ago and saw some interesting things.
As well as WW2 stuff, there was lots wreckage from the 'Toyota Wars'
of the 80's involving Libya and Chad.

Pics suck, but don't have the original pics here with me.

First pic shows a BM 21 type rocket launching vehicle, I think, heavily shot-up. Outside Kufra.

Then a Humber staff car in an Oasis in the Rabiana sand sea area. Found an M1 helmet lying next to the Humber.
Our guides were keen to leave before we got shot, me going off foraging for rusty stuff probably didn't put them at ease either.

Then a pic of a Savoia Marchetti SM.79 bomber near Jebel Aweinat (nr. Egyptian and Chadian borders).
Destroyed by the SAS in 1940. See the excellent book "The Hunt for Zerzura: The Lost Oasis and the Desert War" by Saul Kelly.

The tail section has been moved to a dump outside a small army base nearby. The aircraft was largely intact until 1969, when
people fired lots of RPG's at it for target practice. Or so I read somewhere.

Have better pics, but not with me. There was also a nice wrecked Panhard AML 90 nearby.

Found some other desert pics. A while back I was lucky enough to visit the Alamein area, and as I stopped to look at some twisted metal, spotted some 37 patt brace attachment buckles in the sand..

In the first pic they are as yet unnoticed in front of the v-shaped twig and to the left of the shrub..
