Close to midnight on the evening of the 23rd April 1944 was the British Stirling LJ526 aircraft from the 149th squadron from Lakenheath airfield in Suffolk in England shot down by the German Luftwaffe. The Allied aircraft would throw mines in the Fehmarn Belt.
The crew of seven men from England, Canada and Australia died
A couple of days ago a local craftsman found an engine and some bonefragments from the plane and crew.

If you read the link posted by Nick you will see that on 17/5/1945 they were transferred to Svendborg cemetery where they rest today.

The three links together create the full story, the bone fragment could be anything, maybe one of the aircrews body was torn into pieces by the landing, the labtests will tell I shall keep you posted.
