why is a boat always called she even if it has a boys name like Prinz Eugen?
I believe it is because they are so costly to maintain.

If I am not mistaken, the Russian navy refers to their ships as "he".
Glad you enjoyed that. There are of course other theories .One is that sailors think of the ships as a females much like their own mothers who took care of them. That one actually makes more sense to me.
The US Navy Sub on display at Pearl Harbor is the USS Bowfin (SS-287). If you look carefully you can see the USS Arizona Memorial in the background. The Bowfin is in the water, I'm unsure of the condition of the hull below the waterline, interior is still very nice. I've attached a few photos I took while on Vacation back in Fall 2008.

what happened to the crew of this u boat?
i went to see this u boat in the flesh about 10 years ago and what an awesome sight it was ,it was a time capsule of artifacts if i remember it was never classed as a war grave as no sailors lost there lives
