WW2 compass out of tank, aircraft or boat ???

Article about: Any help with this one guys Iv posted on other threads but no luck. THis is being offered to me bya huy who said its WW2 aircraft, it look more maritime to me. But what do you think ?? Big N

    I would also hazard a guess that it is a maritime compass. Any chance of finding out what the markings are?
