I am not too happy about the sign. Its condition is very good and appears to be made yesterday, these normally have if actually used at least some enamel damage around the holes.

I kind of agree ---one; because there's just not enough info on how to actually discern real from fakes out there (except for actual design, which seems easily reproduced )--- two; they simply do not give me the nice warm feeling I get when viewing original period items. I guess the latter is what matters the most here, at least for me... I have Saris' book on enamels/signs and plaques, a GREAT book!, but this is too diverse and expensive of an area to be gambling on what might easily be nice, relatively speaking, yet cheap fakes.

I used to own both and both are originals-- as for originals being dinged up that is what they do to the fakes to make them look old. The materials of the modern signs vs that of the originals are different and there are other things to look for that I will not specify.
