Yes sir! That's the one. Wittmann said Hitler likely had it made for Bruno Brauer for his extensive service and valor. With that, I had to throw a few bids at it. I have only ever purchased one thing from liveauctioneers.
Ok , unfortunately it's a plate and someone has added the inscriptions post war .
Maybe best to post pics before auction ?
They might accept returns ?
The problem is that BraŁer was a good fighter for AH, but there was also many others, an so many plates for Galland, Molders, Hartmann.....Why only one ?
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'
In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.
As usual, those idiot fakers couldn't even get their spelling right: They misspelt "Unternehmen" with an "m" at the end.
Furthermore, the rank designation "Generalleutnant" is to be written as a single word and not hyphenated, and for some reason, the word "am" (on) was nonsensically capitalized and followed by a period that is not supposed to be there.
Let's not even get into the general cheesiness of the thing and the question why a presentation piece honoring someone's achievements in a specific military operation should be presented almost one and a half years later. (The Crete invasion was in May 1941.)
In other words: What Ned said.
Its all been said-
"He who hesitates is lost - is not only lost but miles from the next exit"
Lovecraft nailed it!!
