I´ve examined the item very carefully firsthand and it really looks like it´s completely original (including the eagle). The image looks very "provincial" maybe it´s Latvian made too?

The eagle has what looks like a very original wear to it too and slightly sunk down into the leather.

The paper tag is in Latvian but it is hard to belive this item is also Latvian made. For me it seems pretty gay but as we all know there were also many homosexuals in SA.
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.

In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.
IS that actually supposed to be Hitler's portrait?? It seems so Totally....different?

"Much that once was, is lost. For none now live who remember it."
the tag stating something about a doctor and his practice ?
As far as I know Latvian tag is like a information from Dr. Ludwigs Kalnins business card - his address in Riga and information about his profession - seems that he owns or works in some kind of laboratory. It is hard to belive that the card and item are connected in any way.
I'm thinking it might not be hitler at all but just some schmuk who thought the toothbrush 'stache was cool at the time. Maybe this is just a bedside portrait for someone's dear mother who wanted to be kept warm at night with a picture of her homosexual, latvian-nazi son on the bedside table.
(not that there's anything wrong with that)
