can anyone identify this insignia????
hi, this belonged to my father but he died in the 80's
can anyone identify this insignia????
the upper part of the pin is reattached to the insignia with solder, a recent repair.
my grandfather used lead solder in the upper part of the pin, the insignia is not melted to the pin, the lead solder is.
here i add more pics, i don't have a digital camera with a macro lens, sorry.
the insignia is not made of lead, it looks used, anyway,
anything you can tell me about it, would be nice.
thanks in advance.

Re: can anyone identify this insignia????
Hi MrARV !
I've never seen anything like it before.........
At least not with a wreath. A fantasy piece perhaps.
The symbol it is supposed to represent is that of an Iron Cross
second award badge called a 'spange' or clasp.
It doesn't seem to be made very well, has very poor definition and lacks detail.
Give it a rub on a piece of paper and see if it transfers, like lead pencil.
The replacement of the pin has also melted the upper right hand
leaf section, which leads me to think it might be made of lead
or a very soft type of metal.
Regards, Steve.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!
Sorry to say this is indeed a fantasy design. Steve is correct.
Cheers, Ade.
