A Christmas Poem
Some of you are familiar with my recent expensive lesson in buying fake TR items (ref. SS Bookends). The dealer that appraised the items must have felt sorry for me because he gave me a poem that he had in his shop. I wanted to share it with the group. As an update to the fakes, I was able to recoup half of my money and keep the items. So it's still an expensive lesson, but a little easier to handle. Thanks to the shop Schatulle in Nurnberg for the appraisal and this poem. ENJOY!

I like the looks of it-any chance at a translation for us?

This handwriting in normal letters:
"Da sich nun die Jahreswende
Und das Weihnachtsfest genaht,
Reichen wir im Geist die Hände
Dir, Du ferner Kamerad.
Daß wir nicht vergessen haben
Dich auf Deiner stillen Wacht,
zeigen diese kleinen Gaben,
die die Feldpost Dir gebracht.
Laßt vom alten Jahr ins neue
schreiten und mit mutgem Blick,
hier wie dort, vereint in Treue
kämpfen wir für Deutschlands Glück.
Heil Hitler!
Das Amtsgericht Nürnberg
und seine Gefolgschaft
Gruber (signature)"
Maybe i find these days a little time to try with my old school-english
a translation

Translation:As the New Year & Christmas nears,we reach out our hand to you, you far away comrade.
That we have not forgotten you on your lonely watch,is shown by these small gifts that the Feldpost has brought you.
Step from the old year into the New Year with courageous views, here as there, united in loyalty, we fight for Germanys luck.
Nice poem for that fella on his lonely watch -

That Is a nice poem for a far-away from home soldier. Would look superb in a nice frame on the wall.
