Here are a few souvenirs from the 1936 Berlin Olympics: commemorative stamps with special event postmarks, Von Tschammer Und Osten medal, and an ashtray displaying the Olympics' logo and the heraldic crest of the city of Berlin. I've had the ashtray for years and I've always wondered what it's story was. Turn it over and it says "MADE IN GERMANY" which suggests that it was made for export. Then, if you look closely, you will see the words "HEIL HITLER" in tiny letters on the inner rim of the foot. Any thoughts on this odd bit of propaganda?
