    Fairly Modern. The pewter hinge shows no wear at all and the makers mark is written out as "Germany". Altenkunstadt made many different pieces other than just steins. They operated mostly in the 1960-70 era.

    That's what I first thought but this maker had a few different marks over the years ,
    This one is marked "Germany"

    not "west Germany " or "East Germany"

    Surely the spider fracturing is older than 1960s ?

    Also google translate does not compute for me for some reason.

    I would agree with William. 1960's/1970's. Take a look here, crazing on a 70's piece:

    also the pewter hinge on this piece is made in a way that wear would not be visible,

    just found a maker stamp site , correct its 1969 era approx.

    "ALTENKUNSTADT PORCELAIN (Black or Blue - Export mark)"
