What I like about these kinds of items is the sheer diversity of designs which can be found. I have not seen this one before and I must say I like it very much. I think it works well as a paper weight, recalling a soldiers heavy pack.

Looks nice, it appears to be from WW1 because of the way the strap goes around the mess kit.
