I wonder where it's been hiding...

I've never heard anywhere that Hitler ordered Fegelein's Execution with a phone call...As far as I know, Fegelein was hauled back to the Bunker for interrogation by Heinrich Mueller, where the -heavily intoxicated- Fegelein confessed to having knowledge of Himmler's Negotiation Efforts. According to Rochus Misch, Fegelein was being escorted through the Reichskanzlei Corridors under SS Guard and was shot while trying to flee, pockets stuffed with valuables...
As far as ordering KZ-Inmates killed, I recall a telephone operator at Wolfsschanze stating that he was "listening-in" when Himmler called to report "Good News for the Fuehrer" - The execution of 20,000 Jews- whereupon Bormann angrily chastised and reminded Himmler that such information was only to be conferred to Hitler via Courier...It may have been one of his phones, but I believe the story behind it is embellished to raise the "Evil Aspect" and the Price...
Just my opinion, Friends...
cheers, Glenn

'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.

Thanks! I had my doubts as I own several vintage phones so I knew that the reciever doesn't fit this W 38. There were, by the way, red phones (don't know wether AH ever used one) but these were made of red material (bakelite or whatever), they certainly weren't simply painted red. The only "mystery" is the inscription and the eagle. Should try and put something like this on my phones...

Is that why UK called it the phone-y war?
