    Hi Didier, a nice original.

Some type of commander's car pennant. Others will be able to tell you more.

    Cheers, Ade.

Looks very good with the quality of embroidery I would expect. Sorry, but I don't know it's exact function, but maybe for a motor launch, rather than a car, as usually (Heer & luftwaffe) they have a different mount and are covered, though if it is for a chief petty officer rather than an officer, it might be for a car, though I doubt that such a rank had a car pennant.

Why do you think it is German, does it have some German markings on it? Just asking.

To be totally truthful, I don't even know for certain that it is military in original at all. The anchor design seems to have been added manually and is crooked and poorly made, and is outlined by Hand and there isn't a single marking on it anywhere. A very unusual piece. William

It is quite similar to the KOMMANDOZEICHEN AM KRAFTWAGEN FUR ABTEILUNGSKOMMANDEURE DER KRIEGSMARINE (Car Command Pennant for Navy Battalion Commander).

Hmm...abit of a stretch, in my opinion. I can't remember ever seeing a hand done needlework piece such as this has on it, in any case. William

Hi William, it is in fact machine chain stitched.

    Cheers, Ade.

Dunno who was running that machine, in that case, but they were all over the place! Overly long schnapps break at lunch hour? lol William

From what I could find that pennant is the international pennant for the number 6.The anchor with that rope configuration is for a commadore. So COULD BE it is for the commadore of a yacht racing club ?
