From Military Antiques London. Looks so good but I know there´s no telling if it´s the real deal or.. is there? I personally like it very much.

Sorry guys, just the usual "LAH" mistake.
It's "HAL"...
Hamburg-Amerika-Linie
H.A.L. - Hamburg Amerika Linie was a shiping line belonging to the HAPAG shipping company.
Germanys largest transatlantic carrier...
There is ALWAYS someone around trying to sell tableware from HAL pasenger ships as LAH mess items.
And this ciggarette case shows the same configuration of the letters than all the tableware around.
I was mussing that it might be gift for a merchant navy man who participated succesfully in a "Durchbruch" (breakthrouh operations: the return of civilian ships from all over the world to german ports in after the opening of hostilitys). But it also could be a retirement gift. The meaning of the eagle is unclear, but might be related to the specific ship.
While you are correct about the "HAL" silverware issue, this cigarette case is not from that source.
The design on this case is based upon the special sports vest insignia worn by the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler.
Now, if the case is original or not is another matter...
Cheers, Ade.
That really would explain alot of the problems I had with the letter H. The eagle i great I think!
Best regards Jan
