If you could RESTORE (proper spelling of the word) it either by welding, or epoxy it would certainly be more attractive, and perhaps worth more, too - providing the worker does a good job of it. If it were mine, I would restore it. Let me know if you want to sell it.

Some more pics from the seller, great detail on eagle! I tell you when I have it in my hands. Still wonder what it was used for..

Sorry about my spelling, I know it is poor and to late to work on it.
As I mentioned before in other threats regarding restorations; a restoration has to be seen as one and means that the object must be able to be braught back in is original condition (as it was found before the restoration) without causing any further dammage to the object!
So welding would not be the propper way to do so.
Always looking for Belgian Congo stuff!

    Thanks Jan.
As I used to work in a museum I know what harm can be done by restoration. In fact the broken wing is quite symbolistic...

Go the epoxy route. Welding would leave a very unattractive line which would need sanding. The epoxy would be the preferred method for me. Good luck and keep us updated. Nice early SA desk eagle by the way.

Warning friends, I have the last week been offered 5 of these om diffrent fleemarkets in Sweden, and to me this is a bad omen since i only saw 1 before in my life. Some fakes are out there, but I beleve this is an original, all the once I have seen are missing the stand! The same sellers allso had 1 other item in common, they all sold small NDSAP eagles that where suposed to be banner eagles, I bet they are all fake! Just keep your eyes open, Im sure about this! Allso look closely on the Eagles face, the one in this thread has a nicer one than the ones I saw, so somebody made a mould and casted there own!

This is one of the fake banner eagles!!!
