Being a backwards Nazi Symbol - I remember someone telling me its a good luck symbol back before the Nazi's came to power. I was in Norway when someone told me that back
    in 1970.

Yes, the "swastika" was around in many cultures long before the Nazi's adopted it as their own and changed it from a good luck symbol to what it is today. But also the swastika is not neccesssarily backwards on this piece, it depends what side of the piece you view it from.

as you can see the swastika was not always viewed as it is today this is a native american basket ball team from 1901 there was also a girls hockey team called "the swastikas" from the 20's. many cultures from all over the world viewed the symbol as a symbol of good luck

The 45th Infantry division patch featured the symbol as well then was replaced with the thunderbird for obvious reasons.

I have stayed at the Swastika Bungalows resort in Bali. It is a very nice resort, however, both times I stayed there it was weird when I walked in and you're greeted by a large swastika! I almost Sieg Heiled
