Looks like a fire hazard to me, not seen one before but if you are lucky someone else here might have one in their collection.
I have one like this. Bought it as an original at a militaria fair and it serves as a display piece in my cabinet. The one posted above looks exactly like mine.

A lot of these found their way to the collector market in the eighties.... same as christmas balls, toiletpaper rolls etc... not saying they did not exist, just personally dont like them! Jmo...
Only thing I can add is, found these by accident a few months ago, assuming that they are real since this is a museum?
.. Though, they do also offer some funky looking armbands.

Searching for anything relating to, Anton Boos, 934 Stamm. Kp. Pz. Erz. Abt. 7, 3 Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 2, 16th Panzer-Division (My father)
It is amazing what some museums will pass off as original, and although I have no problem with such items being used to enhance ones collection I would also like to find pictures or evidence of them being used in the TR context.
To be honest they are not my cup of tea either, but if they are indeed original then I would expect to find evidence of them somewhere.
