Interesting eagle. At first look it appears to be brass, but I think it is actually painted isn't it? Seems like it's got a thin black wash over it. So what is the material it is made from?
Second question; is this a wall hanger? I notice two tiny rings on the back but surely that wouldn't hold up 20kg?

    Hello Anderson,

i have not yet received the eagle with me. Can I say something later.
I start from an eagle that is over a door.

The front has been edited, golden bronze reissued. The back was cleaned and preserved.

I believe I have seen an eagle like this before made of plaster or that type of material, not metal though. Looks pretty nice to me in any case. Look forward to hearing more about it when you acquire it.

In my opinion it is a post war reproduction made from a latex rubber mould.

The small imperfections that can be seen are from the tiny pin holes that can found when making the original rubber mould.

Here is one that surfaced about 3 or 4 years ago in Europe.

Interesting Doug. I notice the attachment loops or rings are rather more heavy duty than the thin wire rings that appear in the original poster's example.

If it is made of plaster then the hole is very neatly cut into it. I would have expected it to break?

I had one the same as Saladin shown with the white backing on it which was made from Marble ,

    Hello,
these eagles have shown up from time to time in German auctions like militaria321 for about 5 years already. IMO post war plaster-repros if not fantasy. Never seen originals from metal or wood. So would stay away.
    Best regards, Thomas
