    Hi Mloppkit,

Yes this is the same Museum, but I did not know that moved items in and out, as I never saw the signs you posted. I did see the Bronze Adler at high level where these uniforms are...Click image for larger version.

Hi Erich S, Thanks, yes, I have a couple of desk eagles in my collection but unfortunately not up there with the museums, but it's nice to know you like them anyway. SilberKreuz, thanks for confirming that it is the same museum with the posters, signs and amazing bronze eagle. Thanks also for posting a much better photo of the Third Reich tunics and your great photos of Wilhelm Kaisers GFM uniforms. I missed seeing this when I was there and it is truly an excellent display -simply fantastic.

Some great items. Thanks for showing . Back in the 70's I got to tour the German art at the Pueblo Army Depot. There was around 3000 painting and sculptures, You could only view a small portion but it was amazing. It was all returned to Germany in the 80's. I think the sculpture you showed might have been from that collection.

Very Interesting Kirby, Maybe quite a few of the items displayed are from this source. Either way, the collection on display at the German History Museum is very impressive - here are some more signs, plaques and other items at the museum.

The DE standard is a reproduction--at least the cloth and the cord are. And the SS overcoat has braided piping versus twist, which has likely been added. There are at least a few other pieces that have problems, but overall it looks like a fantastic place to visit.
    Silberkreuz,
those photos of the uniforms in the case are fabulous--to get the lighting and sharp focus shooting through glass is not so easy.

ID:	750881The museum is in the Prussian Zeughaus on the Linden in the center of historical Berlin. I was just there, actually. I had not seen the Breker or whoever statue (Die Wehrmacht) from the entrance to the Reichskanzlei, either until this visit. It stands next to a suitable Soviet style item of like size and character. I first went to this museum in 1983, when it was the DDR history museum. Those interested in the history of national socialism have now new institutions in the Topographie des Terrors in Berlin, the Nuremberg party area
museum, and a brand new one on the grounds of the former Braunes Haus in Munich. There is also a new exhibition on the Berghof in the Aussenstelle of the Reichskanzlei, where the General Walker Platterhof once stood before it was torn down and made into a seven star hotel and such.
National Socialism is hardly the focus of the exhibit in the Zeughaus of today. Rather, the story is the whole of German history in its wonderful variety and detail.

PS some books I bought in Berlin.
    damit, basta.
