Good evening,
I've been offered this plaque as part of a grouping.
The detail looks clear and crisp. It's my understanding that the wooden surround is an 'add-on'?
Can I have a second opinion on originality please?
Thank you, Glen.

Glenn - possibly the plaque was in a case at one time as most of these came in a case - is it metal? looks good but as you noted not original to the back attachment in my opinion matter of fact it looks odd the way its attached with the large pins.

I would agree with Horst. The backing looks to have been added. By who? That we'll never know...

Horst - thank you for your response, I believe that the piece is metal. I've seen a similar one but without the backing plate / screw fixture. Sadly I think it loses some appeal but still a nice item.
As to when it was done, you're right - who knows?!
Thank you, Glen.
The wood appears to be Indian Rosewood.........
Regards,
Steve.
