NSKK Sign - Maintenance & Service

Hello,

Hope all of you are well. Been awhile since I picked up anything new. My first 2020 pick up is salty & been there NSKK sign for service and maintenance. The sign was to my knowledge a marker for notifying NSKK members where their cycles and vehicles could be brought in for servicing. Hope to learn more and if anyone has any details please share them.

Size is 15 3/4" x 15 3/4". The corners have gone to time and the back is a bit rusty. Porcelain facing over steel is pitted and has some whacked & dings. Overall, I believe this to be a fairly rare sign. I don't come across them much. I believe Wittmann has an example on his website that is nicer than this. It is a happy addition to my NSKK collection.

Any suggestions on the rusted back and corners? Will not clean it but do you have any wisdom to keep from rust continuing or should I leave it alone?

That's a pretty neat looking piece. Even though it is NSKK it reminds me of old US service station signs / advertising

A great find. I have a few enamel signs and find if kept away from moisture the rust stays stable. If the back is flaky then you can treat it with a auto rust treatment. I always give mine a good polish with a car wax and find that really brings the colours out.
