Thanks Ade and Phil , the piece was a Durham Light Infantry veteran bring back which i found in a local second hand shop !! I couldn't believe it when i saw the name of Bayerlein on it , luckily the guy in the shop had no idea who he was so i got it for almost nothing, all he knew was that an old DLI guy had brought it back from France.
The DLI were involved in numerous Battles with the PLD and I / 6 in mid June 1944 in particular the Battles at Tilly sur Seulles , Lingevres and Verrieres , south east of Bayeux,

Just some further information this was probably awarded during a Panzer Lehr Regiment 130 sports tournament that took place in May 1944 at Auvours , does anyone have a History of the Panzer Lehr that has mor einfo about their stay at Auvours ?
