Hello!
Here is a little pitcher from Bauscher Weiden porcelain with Otto Decker`s name.
Otto Decker was luftwaffe ace. He was K.I.A. at 27 August 1942
Why is the name of the pilot pictured on this subject ?
THANKS !

My best guess is that the Otto Decker that is named on the pitcher is perhaps not the same person as the WWII Luftwaffe ace. The design of the aircraft looks post WWII to me (shaped like a 4 engine passenger or cargo jet) , and it also appears to have tip tanks that were used for fuel and also to counteract the forces bending the wing (by adding mass to the end of the wings). I am no expert but I do not believe that tip tanks were used until after WWII. They are generally not used any more though, due to advances in design and materials. I also believe that the Luftwaffe ace would likely have unit insignia, a Luftwaffe eagle, etc on such a piece if it was WWII vintage. Hope this helps. Perhaps the manufacturer design can be dated if it has changed over the years?
