    A nicely detailed painting of a well decorated man. Nice addition to your collection.

    A very nice painting. I especially like the attention to details such as the accuracy of the ribbon bar.

    Just one observation: He's not a Wachtmeister, but of much higher rank. He is wearing rank insignia for an Oberstleutnant der Schutzpolizei.

    I must have misinterpret the writing at the bottom of the panting!?

    No; you read it right (the "Pol. Wachtmstr. Sch.d.R." is for "Polizeiwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei der Reserve", by the way). I think this is the name of the artist, actually.

    (After all, it would be doubly unusual to write the name of the person in the portrait on it while not signing one's work.)
