Neat piece from Colditz! Your story is fascinating in that you had a great tour guide also. I've been there several times and I understand now you can actually stay on site when traveling. I hope to get that way again. I was able to acquire a few bits from there and later during some reconstruction, one guy managed to get the cobblestone that was removed and some roofing materials of which I was able to get 1 piece of. As you say.... If only they could talk...

If I recall correctly the Russian War Memorial which still stands in the former West Berlin not too far from the Bradenburg Gate was made predominately of marble which was salvaged from the Chancellery building. Probably be in trouble however if you tried to procure any of that!!
