SS Book Ends and Desk EagleSS Book Ends and Desk EagleI appreciate everyone's candid feedback on these items. The bookends and eagle do not appear to be a set but were sold as such. The eagle is the nicer piece. Walkwolf requested a picture of the bolts in the base so I'll post those. I enjoy going to the markets to see the stuff for sale. There are normally some WWII era medals and coins that are affordable and appear genuine. Sometimes I'll come across a knife, helmet, or porcelain. After getting burned on this one I'll probably stick with the cheaper stuff. Thanks again to all. Chuck

Nifty looking items but I hope you didn't blow too much cash on them. I do have to say though, that for the amount of effort required to produce these, I would have thought we would see more around as it wouldn't be worth a faker's time to just make a single set. If these were mine I'd be stashing them away somewhere and the longer no other examples surface, the slightly better odds that these might be genuine-ish.

Another modern piece. The colouring has been faked
on this - it's simply been painted on.........

I agree, the bronze patina is indeed fake, these eagles are for sale at Germania International, I don't believe these or any of them with this patina are period examples. Best Regards, Michael

You're all wrong, they must be real I paid 600Euro for them.... After posting the pictures on this site I dropped them off at a shop in Nurnberg to get appraised. They came back 100% FAKE! Many of the observations made by members here were also made by the dealer. Way too many swastikas on the wreaths, the quality of the casting were poor compared to the real thing, the bases did not make sense. Thanks to everyone who took the time to make an observation and give an opinion. Ya'll were spot on. So I asked the dealer to explain this to the person that sold me the piece since I do not speak German. It started out OK but the seller began to fabricate a story that I knew the items were fake and just had to have them. Things became heated and a shouting match ensued. I always though German sounded angry when spoken normal, it REALLY sounds angry when they are angry. So the seller hung up and sent me a text. I'm trying to work some sort of deal to get at least some of the money back but I'm prepared to lose it all. It's an expensive lesson but I've learned a lot along the way. Tschuss!
