Indeed, it is a one looker pile of Cr#p IMHO and if it looks like cr#p, smells like cr#p, do we need to taste it before we offer the opinion that it is cr#p?

I not an expert, but to me this item looks pretty good. I don't see anything that is obviously wrong, like the Hakenkreuz being backward or something misspelled. Even the Reichadler in the base looks OK, but a sharper photo might make a difference. We assume it's cast metal, but if it isn't, that could make a difference too. I'm not put off by what appear to be flaws in the casting because so many cast items do have minor flaws. And if this item was intended to be a low-cost, mass-produced decoration piece with no official status, the flaws wouldn't be an issue. Maybe it was a table decoration for events, dinners, receptions, etc put on by the run-of-the-mill party members who wouldn't mind a minor flaw, since they do not really show up readily. Imagine a large room with several tables, each one of which had one of these in the center. The effect would be rather dramatic, flaws and all. I don't believe that everything made in Nazi Germany was flawless, or that some super Party watchdog would object to something associated with the Party being less than perfect. Anyway, I like it even with not knowing what its real purpose was--if any. Dwight
