Hi Folks,
Could I please have opinions on this enamelled sign? It is unlike the ones pictured in Wilhelm's must-have book...
Cheers,
Arran.

I would cleave very closely to what Wim says on this score.
I cannot tell. I would be skeptical, though this source seems to me to be more or less serious.

I own Wim's book on enameled signs, and it is among his very best.
I agree, and I'm hoping he may chime in on this thread. I know a whole plethora of signs is being reproduced now...
I am in no way as well versed in these signs as Wim, but the pristine condition says to me either exceptional storage or new production. The colors seem too fresh as well. I would be really skeptical of this one, but that is just my two cents. I am curious as to what Wim would think of this piece.
Nice try, but I do have my doubts.
The eagle is different as from those I have observed. Most
remarkable: the oak-leaves do run upwards. With originals
downwards. I should not mention this, as in a while we will
see available a corrected version!
And what source is really safe and serious?
So for the future, in many occasions I will keep my mouth
wide shut when my opinion is asked to not further give a
hand to fakers!
Hope you all do understand my point of view. That is why I
hardly do participate with some other subjects, as the "Guru"-
experts always will have an explanation (and it's all about
money)!! So................................................ ............

Thank you all for your participation in this thread! I will pass the concerns on to my friend, who was considering bidding on this sign...
