Welcome to the forum and thanks for showing this beautiful item. I'm sure we would all like to see more pictures. Doug

Hi Doug. I was sure I posted this as a reply on the WWII wooden toy thread in response to related tanks and request to find out if anyone else had any. Even thought I saw it as page 5 of the thread. Did it get moved for some reason? I do not frequent forums, so I need some help on this. Thanks!

Interesting. I stand to be corrected, but isn't that model of a Russian T34?

Hi Luk631, and welcome to the forum!
This is a super item and a bit more than a "toy". It is an official German Army recognition model of a Soviet T34/76 tank. This would have been used to train German soldiers to identify enemy tanks. Most likely used to train German Tankers and Anti Tank Gunners.
Turn the turret around to face the front
Cheers, Ade.

Douglas, thanks so very much for fixing up those photos. And Adrian and Anderson, I have no knowledge of tanks so I didn't realize the turret was facing wrong way, it is the way I removed it from the box it was packed in. I so much appreciate that you guys have this forum. I saw some other info online that these recognition models were supposed to be destroyed at end of war, but some soldiers gave them to kids for toys. Not sure if that is accurate and you can see on the papers that my dad shipped them home in April 1945, when war was not over but winding down. His 11th armored division liberated Mauthausen Concentration Camp on May 5, 1945 one of the few things he talked about as a vet as he was so proud. So, am I correct though to assume that these models (this one and the German Sturmgeschütz III in the other thread) were owned by the German army and not the US? And I know that you all are collectors, but we are likely going to sell these tanks at some point as I don't anticipate them passing along in the family lines and Dad would not want them to just end up in an estate auction along the way. He would want someone who really appreciates the history to have them and for his grandchildren to have some benefit from them. Does anyone have an idea what their value may be? Thanks for all your help!

These are certainly of German military origin. I'm interested to hear of your dads service and I'm sure you can be proud of what he did.
With regard to value, I'm sorry I cant help because I have never seen another for sale - they are certainly not common and would interest many collectors. If you do put them up for sale please let us know.

Greetings Luk631!
I have a half a dozen of these recognition models myself. As a collector, I would be interested in purchassing whatever models that you have and are wanting to sell. Sent you a PM as to values.
Best regards,
Bill
