finds from village jumble sale

hello this is what i picked up in one of my french village
jumble sales. i bought all this from a retired english man.



very old parade jacket about 1920 or before no date



light infantry







4th royal sussex light infantry regiment


the same kind of paint as the germans







this jacket cost me 40 euros

next thing i found was a compleat RAF uniform
with the madal DFC the highest award in the RAF







magnifique c'est to much!



its very clean indeed



63 years after the war the smell of the pilot is still there
this lovly thing cost me 100 euros

a RAF side cap with black bakalite butons and late war plastic badge well marked 45 euros fantastic











finaly got somthing german 15 euros great stuff












and now i finaly got some helmets,starting with a tank drivers one









look at the paint, just like the german style



the inside of the helmet MK2 the same as the commen helmet 30 euros brill



english helmet made of bakalite used wilst working with live electric cables protection for shock 50 euros not bad!

english helmet for a police sargent with the stripes in a transfer and its police blue couler











inside mk 2 1939



lovely markings 1939 52 euros. fair play
english moter cycle lamp ww2 2 euros . fab





lovly looking plate marked ,king of the road in a wheel.

Can you advice about the bag?
This kind of bags was used in the battlefield in Estonia by Latvian Militaia ( Red Army) in 1941 year ( previously used by Latvian army in 1920-40's)

It is called the "Small Pack" in the British Army and RAF.

It's used as bread bag?

Used as a back pack. It carried the spare clothes, mess tin, food, etc.

But can also be worn as a side pack with sling (as shown) when the "Large Pack" was worn on the back.

Nice finds :-)

2 points, the DFC was not the highest award in the RAF, the VC was however it was the highest flying medal, if you see where I'm coming from, however a very nice tunic. And the helmet you describe as a tank drivers helmet, I think is a British dispatch riders helmet, as the buckle and strap are wrong for a paratroopers helmet, british tank drivers IIRC mostly wore their black berets, lovely helmet though :-)

I stand corrected, never seen one, same helmet different strap, still have never seen a pic of tankers wearing helmets :-) I've just been looking and can't find any pics of tank helmets being worn, tbh, with the odd strap it has it could well be a tank helmet, but as said, only photo's I've seen have the tankers wearing their berets. Plus what good would a helmet do inside a tank, afterall if a bullet goes through 3-4 inches of steel, it's hardly gonna be stopped by that :lol:.

Anyone got any photo's of this helmet in action?? I'm interested now :-)
