"It's an SSuzuki. German/ Japanese engineering... very advanced for it's time"
This is sort of a pillow type thing:
On the inside:
48 star flag... this thing is HUGE, and it's in great shape!

Unit photo from Camp Bowie, TX. Pvt Parks' friends are numbered:
The vet listed the contact info for all his buddies on the back.
Some pictures of training. My favs are the ones of a soldier in full battle dress with a dead snake (there are numerous photos of soldiers with snakes... Camp Bowie must have had a snake problem!) There is also a pic of a young kid chomping on cigars, and other young soldiers fooling around.
Some more pictures, and a souvenir book from Camp Bowie. Also included are Pvt. Parks' dogtag, and an information booklet for soldiers coming back to the US after the war:

Photos from Pvt. Parks' service in Europe. Most pics are from Detmold, Germany. There are also pictures from Frankfurt, Paris, and a few others...
A map Pvt. Parks must have picked up while on leave in Paris!
Pictures of an 88, German tank of some sort, and a downed German airplane
Pictures of knocked out Sherman's on the road to Frankfurt
Pictures of American aircraft at an airfield in Detmold, Germany

Here are the last few things.
A headshot of a French woman, a set of postcards from Bruxells, the cigar box all the pictures were held in, and a pouch. The pouch contains a bunch of pictures from the Spanish-American war. The pictures appear to be cut out of a magazine or something...
THANKS FOR TAKING A LOOK!![]()
Can anyone I.D. the German tank and airplane in my set of photos?
As great as this stuff is it is too bad that the family is giving away part of their history. At least it is ending up with someone who will take care of it instead of the dumpster
If you ever want to sell the pictures let me know.
I love the 48 star flag!
cheers,
pat
Best regards, Patrick Lewis

Looking for any information or any items with or related to do with the firm "Mohr & Speyer".
Thanks for the very kind words, everyone!
The flag is VERY cool and extremely well made... everything seems to be double stitched and reenforced, and in general, it's very heavy-duty! It's nothing like the thin and light-weight flags you see today. I've always wanted a flag like this!!![]()
I just hope it wasn't used on Pvt Parks' casket at his funeral...
Sorry guys, none of this stuff is for sale unless I need to raise money for a life and death situation. The man who donated this stuff to me (his name is Clyde) looked me in the eye and we shook on it. He's very excited that this stuff will have new life in my classroom!![]()
madness is doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result.
