    Hello,

Anyone any idea what this is, please?

I have had it for around 25 years, my Grandad used to mix paint with it in his cellar.

    Thank you in advance,

    Mark.

Looks like a radio antenna from the photos - Definitely RAF as it has a part code on it - Code prefix is 10BB - & 10 B is Radio and radar aerial and mast equipment and insulators IIRC

They are called a 'Strake' - don't know why I know this - but that is
what I believe it to be as well. Very cool.........!
    Regards,

    Thank you for your replies.

Any idea of what type of aircraft this may have been fitted to?

All sorts of stuff had those fitted, usually just behind the cockpit on fighters.

It does remind me of a Spitfire one, but I thought they had a lug at the top to hold the aerial cable itself ? As RickWG says, many aircraft had these so difficult to trace it exactly.

It appears to have a decal stating what raido types it was suitable for use with, but I can't read it - perhaps if it is easier to read from the actual object, you could google the type and see what they fitted to?
