Can anyone offer insight on my latest finds?

I really like the old bills and Occupation currency. Have you found
out if the older money is original ? If they are, you should be
able to purchase that ring with them - or add a big hunk
of coin to the fund !

( The patches are all common WWII. The buckle
is not military.........)

Hi Steve,

Unfortunately, the Condeferate States of American currency is all fake. It's the type of stuff you can buy as a souvenir when you tour places associated with the Confederacy in the U.S. Civil War.

I was excited... but then I found a website that lists the serial numbers of all known confederate fakes. All of mine matched.

I've been spending most of my time lately at the high school and not at recycling facility. I stopped into the office today after work and found that these were pulled out of the trash for me:

Both are marked "STERLING" on the back. On the combat infantry badge, the wreath is a separate piece.

It's likely that both these Sterling badges are WWII era. The reason the CIB
is in two parts was to be able to upgrade it from an 'Expert Infantry Badge'
to the coveted 'Combat Infantry Badge' ( by the addition of the wreath ).

This was most probably a cost saving feature at the same time,
as one would only have to buy the wreath instead of a
whole new badge..........

Excellent! I assumed that was the case! I was also given an Eagle, Globe, and Anchor... but I can't find it...

Nice bayonet. It is from the 1960's or 70's for the M-16 rifle,
or possibly earlier - for the M1 Carbine - but I'm not sure
just when plastic grip panels came into use.

Try and see if it will fit.........!

Um I know I'm late but I just saw this thread. Believe or not, we still use that type of bayonet in the modern army. There is a replacement bayonet that came out in the late 80s, but not all units have them. We have a whole foot locker in the arms room here in Korea of the old M4 bayonet.
