Some French advertisements were also in the foot locker... weird...

This wedding photo is NOT Gifford... I think?

I find it rather sad that a mans service to his country be reduced to a spot on a garbage tip, rather unfeeling from his family members i think

Nice finds! What do you plan on keeping?
I would like to keep the Foot locker itself, the discharge papers, GI Insurance papers, Lt. Gifford's photos, and the "Onward Christian Soldiers" card. The uniform items, shell casing, helmet, aviator glasses, compass, French advertisements, and Wedding photo need to find good homes.

I agree, without a doubt! However, I doubt that all of these items came from one person or family...

The Honorable Discharge papers, dogtags and color photo belonged to John B. Wells, a Tech. 5 with the 55th Ordnance Company that served in the Pacific.

I'm assuming most everything else came from Lt. Giffords... a member of the 8th Armored Group in Europe.

More great finds! I am happy you give these items good homes, and don't send em' to their demise.

The sunglasses are probably 'Ray Ban Aviators' or 'Glasses Sun Aviator'
from the brief description you've given. '58' is the frame size I believe,
( which are small to medium) stamped into the brow bar.

    ie: '58 [ ] 14'

There might also be 'RB' etched into the lenses near the arms.
( Been wearing this brand/style since the early 80's.........)
    Regards,

    Steve.

    Great explanation, thanks!

    Could these be WW2 vintage?

Yes, but they could also be from anytime up until the 1970's or 80's.........!
The earlier types did not have the white 'Ray-Ban' logo
printed on the top edge of the right lense.

Did they come with a case ?
