Hi Guys, I got this helmet in 1989 direct from the farmer who's barn it was found in.

Looking at it you might be suprised to know it was not found in North Africa or Southern Europe but it actually came from Normandy, just a few miles behind "Utah" beach. The liner is with, but it had has gone black and turned very hard while the liner band is just rust.

I paid £40 for it back then, which was really far too much money at the time, but I just had to have it!

As promised a look inside the helmet.

The liner band has rusted away and the leather is in poor condtion. The string is "as found".

is very difficult to find an sand paint helmet original, thanks for sharing

I will advice you to a bit refresh a paint with oxalic acid, just to clear rust from the paint. If you want-send it to me and I'll make it for you
