Default Helmet in a cellar - where's it from ?

    Hello.

My work colleague found this helmet when he moved into a house near Stockport, England. I bought it from him, as I am a History teacher but neither of us have a clue about it's origin. I wonder if anyone could help. It seems as if it has seen better days.

Thanks for your time & expertise.

It has the shape of an Italian helmet. I'm not good on the details though - the liner does not look like the type I've seen. You need more input from the list.
