Is there anyone who can tell me what this ring is or what it means? I don't even know where it came from, but I have had it a long time. Any info would be appreciated. I hope you can see the photos. The ring one one side says F.Z. i cant make out the first number, but the rest is 4.15 and the other side says Flandern. It looks stamped. Thank you!

It is simply a nice piece of WWI Trench Art. No doubt made by a German soldier who served near Flanders,Belgium as the Germanized version of the name "Flanders" is "Flandern". Flanders was the scene of much bloody fighting in the Great War and many hundreds of thousands of casualties on both sides occurred there.Oddly enough, the date is Just prior to the writing of the famous John McCrae poem

    "In Flanders Fields"

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.
    William
