    From the alloy castings, 1940s-1970s (ish).

    I'll keep digging and see if anything else turns up.

    Great, they looked similar to the german periscope tripod on this website:

    I think this could be somthing like the tripod instrument no.17 for the no.7 or no.9 director for laying guns onto target
