    The Talon zip and spring clip are certainly period. Could the stamped code suggest 1944? You'll have to wait for the more informed than me i'm afraid!!

    Yep late WWII style 2nd pattern "Griswold" drop case for the M1 Garand and M1/M1A1 Thompson sub-machine gun, about 1944 going by the colour. My honest opinion 90% leaning towards genuine, the only thing that's really bugging me is the "V" weave binding tape on the edges, as most I've seen use the "tabby" plain weave binding tape, as "V" weave was little used until the end WWII (late 1944 to early 1945) so it could be very late WWII.

    You have to go to a LOT of garage sales to find things believe me! I hit a minimum of 300 garage sales a year and I will find two good things in all of those sales.

    I just came upon this thread ..picked this up a few weeks ago,measures 49" X 101/2".....all comments welcomed.I believe it is WW 2 or Korea????? Dave H
