Went to a local steam engine show, there were some auto jumble and bric a brac stalls, and I appear to have cleaned up all the militaria that was there. Star find was a group of postcards from a WW1 Canadian soldier, Harry Horton, who had sent postcards back to Hensall, Canada, to his family, which have some how got back to the UK, amongst the cards, was a newspaper cutting of Harry at a Rememberance service in Hensall in 1982. Other items of interest were, WW2 German compass, WW1 engineers saw, assorted Air Ministry tyre pressure gauges and small tools, WW1 German & British binoculars, and a scroll commemorating Squadron Leader F Larman, who was killed in the Far East. The little box in front of the thermos, is War Dept marked and is unopened, it says "Respirator Painters Rogers No7 Qty 1", do I open it ?

Here's this Sundays haul, the most unusal item was the cut down French bayonet, the helmet unfortunately is missing its liner, and again no shortage of wire cutters !
What is the insignia on the brodie helmet? Does the white bar under the shield signify anything, or is it just part of the insignia? Thanks, John

Another good haul. The RIF fabric card would fetch a good price on its own

A very good weekend last week, these were Saturdays finds, the most unusual being the gyro from the autopilot of a WW2 lancaster, the 2cm shell box was also a bit of a rarity to find (it had modern tools in it).

Sundays finds were pretty good also, a pile of 44 pattern webbing, a Mk1 Brodie, reused in WW2 as a FW helmet, and not shown in the main photo, but shown separately 2x Japanese Wakizashi swords, which I thought were old but good reproductions but turn out to be the real thing !
