    Hi,
I have seen side caps like this before that have been used by farmers ect
after the war. they mostly end up in this condition through use or just thrown in a barn. But i must say phil does like looking for a fake.

Hi Phil, I think you will find Dimas is refering to the seams. They are heavily constructed on SS caps and take on a piped type appearance.

Note the seams to the crown on my SS feldmutze.

The Luftwaffe Fliegermutze is made in a similar way too.

    Cheers, Ade.

Ade, the cloth type used on your cap is a bit different from a standard? I think I have one M 42 SS tunic, similar by material...

Hi Phil, here you go. I have shown the cap on the forum elsewhere with some more views.

Hi Dimas, the cloth is very faded and worn down from wear. You can see a better look here with the side flap folded down.

    Cheers, Ade.

Nice one, Ade, byt what did you think about the soutache, originally factory placement? I think the cap is mid war production or I'am wrong
