Im not really into WW1 US kit, but I would kill for a find like this, you are one very lucky sod!!!
I know that its already been said by more knowledgeable people than me, but whatever you do, DONOT split it up! All it needs is either a Krag-Jorgenson or Springfield 1903 and bayonet and its complete
If you donot have the space to display it as it truely deserves, I would be tempted to give on loan to a military museum for all to see.
Once again, well done and congrats on the find.

Thanks for all the nice words guys and sorry its taken me so long to reply...you know how it goes when you get caught up in other things.
I believe when this trunk was first found it had a 45 in the holster because there are still two lanyard loop clips in the clip pouch.
Not to worry guys..this footlocker will never be broken up.

Love to see additional pics of the German "porkpie" hat if you get a chance.

A few more pics. I dont collect WWI so this locker is up for trades. I would be interested in a WWII german helmet ( not a $750 heer ) or original tunic. Would also be interested in a WWII US nice unit marked lid.
