    Default Unknown British knife

Hi all, got this the other day, big, curved, bowie blade. All the markings I can see are **** and sons, Sheffield, no2 on the blade. Any ideas?

    Cheers.

I believe it to be a large Skinning Knife, the blade and handle are like the ones i have seen before. Do a google image search and you will see what i mean.

I'm with Donnie on this one. I have seen this type of knife used in Africa. It is a skinning blade of a unusually large size (No.2), used on big game. An experienced hand can skin an elephant or rhino in a little over an hour using this type of blade. Notice the hefty grip, not made for fine work!

    Regards, Ned.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you. The Gurka's knife, the Kukri, is a different design.

Sheffield cutleries produces any kind of blade. I honestly think it has nothing to do with a military knife. It might be a skinner, as already said, for civilian market
